ITINERARY

DAY - 1
BAGDOGRA AIRPORT - GANGTOK

On arrival at Bagdogra Airport (500Ft / 152 Mts), you will meet our local representative who will assist you to board your vehicle to Gangtok (5500 Ft / 1677 Mts 130 kms / 4-5 hrs). Evening free to explore the town. Overnight at Hotel.

DAY - 2
GANGTOK

After breakfast, go out for sightseeing covering Rumtek Monastery, Droul Chorthen, Research Institute of Tibetology, Directorate of Handicraft & Handloom (Closed on Sunday), Flower Show & Enchey Monastery. Evening free to explore Gangtok. Overnight at Hotel.

DAY - 3
GANGTOK - LACHUNG

After breakfast, check-out from Gangtok Hotel and transfer to Lachung (8000 Ft / 2439 Mts / 124 Kms / 6 hours). On the way take a short break at Kabi Lungchok & Seven Sister waterfalls. Overnight at Lachung hotel.

DAY - 4
LACHUNG - YUMTHANG - LACHUNG

Early morning proceed on a half day excursion to Yumthang Valley (11800 Ft / 3598 Mts / 25 Kms / 1 ½ hours one way). On the way, visit the Hot Spring and Singba Rhododendron Sanctuary. Overnight at Hotel.

DAY - 5
LACHUNG - GANGTOK

After breakfast, check-out & proceed to Gangtok. On the way, see mighty Kangchenjunga from Singhik (subjected to good weather condition) and visit Phodang Monastery. Overnight at Gangtok hotel.

DAY - 6
GANGTOK - YUKSOM

After breakfast, checkout & drive to Yuksom (5840 Ft / 1780 Mts Mts, 145 Kms / 05 Hrs). the historical capital of Sikkim. The drive takes you through quaint villages, steep valleys and green hills. Yuksom is rich in history and tradition, as it was here that the first Chogyal of Sikkim was consecrated by the three Lamas. Overnight at Yuksom hotel.

DAY - 7
YUKSOM– TSHOKA

Following an early morning start, you trek for three hours through lush green meadows and cross four mountain streams. Henceforth, the trek is a continuous uphill path lined with conifers and is virtually carpeted with a bed of leaves to leach Bakhim (9000 Ft / 2744 Mts), - a hill village. Tsoka (10000 Ft / 3049 Mts, 17Kms / 7 Hrs), is a slightly larger settlement with a few houses, a monastery and is the last village on the route. You spend the night at Tsoka. Overnight at Trekkers Hut / Tent.

DAY - 8
TSHOKA - DZONGRI

The vegetation changes to stunted bushes of rhododendrons and miniature pine trees resembling bonsais as you gain altitude with every step to reach Dzongri (13218 Ft / 4030mts, 10 Kms 5 Hrs). Overnight at Trekkers Hut / Tent.

DAY - 9
DZONGRI

Dzongri is a picture of solitude surrounded by hills and mountains on all sides. The mountain fortress has no settlements except for two trekker’s huts. An early morning trek at around 4.30 am to the Dzongri top which at 14002 ft / 4269 mts is higher than most mountain peaks in Europe, presents yet another view of the Kanchenjunga along with other ranges basking in the glory of the rising sun. We return to the campsite and spend the day to acclimatize. Overnight at Trekkers Hut / Tent.

DAY - 10
DZONGRI - THANGSING

You lose altitude during the first half of the trek and steadily regain it as you walk along the river Prekchu, a tributary of the Rangeet before you reach your camping site at Thanshing. Thanshing (12602 Ft / 3842 mts, 10 Kms / 4 Hrs). is the base camp for mountaineering expeditions to Mt. Tinchinkhan (6010 mts). Overnight at Trekkers Hut / Tent.

DAY - 11
THANGSING - LAMUNE

You set out early for your destination- Lamune (13658 Ft / 4164 Mts, 6 Kms / 4 Hrs). Lamune is surrounded by imposing mountains on all sides. You stop here for the night. Overnight at Trekkers Hut / Tent.

DAY - 12
LAMUNE - GOCHALA - LAMUNE – THANGSING OR KOKCHURING

You leave at 3 a.m. in the morning equipped with torches braving the temperature of 90 below zero and climb to Goechala (the Goecha Pass 16252 Ft / 4955 Mts)- higher than any place in Europe. After sunshine, the area is engulfed with fog and cloned banks. You return to Lamune to collect your gear and move down to Thanshing or Kokchuring. Overnight at Trekkers Hut / Tent.

DAY - 13
THANGSING OR KOKCHURING - TSHOKA

You take a short route back to Tsoka (10 Kms / 5 Hrs) through dense forest. We call it a day at Tsoka. Overnight at Trekkers Hut / Tent.

DAY - 14
TSHOKA - YUKSOM

A veritable repeat of your 3rd day, the only difference being that you are walking downhill to Yuksom. A visit to the Dubdi monastery- one of the oldest in Sikkim is a must. Overnight at Hotel.

DAY - 15
YUKSOM - KHECHEOPALRI – PELLING

Today drive to visit Khecheopalri Lake (hiking for approx 03 - 04 Hrs). This lake is also known as the wishing lake. This unusually tranquil lake, surrounded by verdant forest is considered as one of the sacred lakes of Sikkim both by the Buddhist and the Hindus and no water sport or other activities are allowed at the lake except prayers / religious offerings. It is believed that even the birds do not permit even a single leaf to fall or float on the lake surface. The vicinity of the lake is an ideal place to find the Lepcha Houses and their communities. Further drive to Pelling (6100 Ft / 1860 Mts, 30 Kms / 01 Hrs). Overnight at Hotel.

DAY - 16
PELLING

Go for leisure walking, covering the three famous landmarks- Rabdantse Palace, Pemayangtse Monastery & Sangachoeling. Early morning walk of 30 minutes will reach you to Sangachoeling Monastery - second oldest in Sikkim. In past, on this trail, few of the bird watcher have sighted exotic Himalayan variety. Return to the hotel for breakfast. Then you head to the Rabdantse Palace- once the second capital of Sikkim is now a historical monument. On the way back you head for Pemayangtse Monastery. The Pemayangtse Monastery belongs to the Nyingma-pa order of Tibetan Buddhism. It was built as a small temple in the late 17th century by Latsun Chenpo. On the top floor, there is a wooden sculpture portraying the Mahaguru’s Heavenly palace Sangthokpalri. Further. Overnight at Hotel.

DAY - 17
PELLING – DARJEELING

After breakfast drive to Darjeeling (7380 Ft / 2250 Mts, 125 Kms / 5 Hrs). Check-in and overnight at Darjeeling hotel

DAY - 18
DARJEELING

Early morning tour to Tiger Hills (8364 Ft / 2550 Mts at around 4 AM) to view sunrise over Kanchenjunga Peak (subject to clear weather). On way back, visit Ghoom Monastery. After breakfast, visit to Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park (Closed on Thursday), Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Tibetan Refugee self-help (Closed on Sunday) Center & Tea Estate. Overnight at hotel.

DAY - 19
DARJEELING - (IXB) BAGDOGRA AIRPORT

Transfer to (IXB) Bagdogra Airport, (100 Kms / 3-4 Hrs) for onward connection.

  • The duration of transfers are approximate; the exact duration will depend on the time of day and traffic conditions

  • Please note that Trekking areas are cold throughout the year, kindly advice your guest to be equipped with proper woolen/ warm clothes.
  • Please note that this area is blessed with Natural Beauty. The accommodation provided  thought the tour will be at Trekkers Hut / Tents with very basic facilities like
    • We will provide warm water in buckets.
    • The food prepared will be fresh, by the local trained Sherpas’s & not by Hotel chef.
    • Camping facility.
  • Kindly advice the guest to bring the following: Sleeping Bags, Clothing  - Light Pullovers & Trousers for Trek, Woolen pullover/ high neck, Jackets, Gloves, Comfortable Walking trekking Shoes, Woolen Socks, Wind Cheater / Rain Coat/umbrella. Caps / Balaclava (Monkey cap). Sun Glasses, Sun cream, Ruck Sack/shoulder bag to contain, Torch & Spare cell, Small notebook and pen (if you would like to keep notes), Toiletries (Tooth Brush & paste etc.)
