ITINERARY

DAY - 1
Arrive Bangalore.

Today proceed on your exciting tour to the land of colors – India. On arrival meet and transfer to your pre-booked hotel. Check-in to your hotel & relax. Later in the afternoon, ready yourself for a city tour which is the biggest center for IT industry in India. One of the major landmarks of this city is the Bull temple. Dedicated to Nandi, the mount of Lord Shiva, the Bull temple was built by Kempe Gowda in the 16th century. The majestic structure of Nandi, 15 feet tall and over 20 feet long, has been carved out of a single granite rock. Bangalore is also one more famous place to visit. Bangalore Palace has been built along the lines of the Windsor Castle in England and embodies Tudor architecture. Known for the profusion of exquisite woodwork, this stunning palace was built by Chamaraja Wodeyar, Maharaja of Mysore in 1887. Also, visit ISKCON temple, constructed by the ISKCON society to commemorate the birth centennial of its founder Sri Prabhupada. The temple complex is a synthesis of modern technology and traditional temple architecture, perched atop a hillock with a panoramic beauty, ISKCON temple attracts thousands of devotees. DAY - 2
On to Coorg.

After breakfast, check out and depart for Coorg. Enroute visit Someshwara Temple and St. Marry’s Chruch. Someshwara temple is dedicated mainly to Lord Shiva, but the temple houses other deities of Kamakshamma, Arunachaleswara, Bhimeswara, Nanjundeswara, and Panchalingeswara as well. While the main temple was built by the Chola kings, the impressive Rajagopuram and the compound of the temple was built by chieftain Kempegowda, the founder of Bangalore. St Basilica is the only church to attain the status of a basilica in Karnataka. The St. Mary's Basilica church boasts of an elegant interior with stained-glass windows, multiple columns with rich Corinthian capital supporting stately arches. On arrival at Coorg, transfer to your pre-booked hotel and check-in. This place is perhaps the best-known amongst Karnataka hill stations, Coorg enthralls tourists with its breathtaking locales. Miles of luxuriant coffee plantations, misty mountains, and lush valleys make this scenic land a perfect getaway for nature lovers. Later, visit Iruppu Falls, giving a majestic sight with water cascading down from a height of 170ft. The roaring waters of the Iruppu coupled with the picturesque surroundings make it a great picnic spot. The Rameshwara Temple, located nearby the falls, attracts a large congregation of devout pilgrims during the festival of Shivaratri. Natives believe that the Iruppu falls possess magical powers and they purge one of one's sins. On the day of Shivaratri, devotees bathe in these falls to clean their sins. Enjoy the beautiful sights of Abbey falls, that produces a spectacular sight of cascading water. Nestled amidst private coffee plantations, the Abbey Falls provide a striking contrast to the sylvan surroundings of Coorg. A narrow road winding through the green and dense foliage of surrounding coffee plantations leads to Abbey Falls. The gushing waters of the Abbey fall, tumbling down a rocky ravine, results in a deafening sound that can be heard from a distance. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY - 3
To the most visited Hill station of South India – Kodaikanal.

After breakfast, drive to Kodaikanal. On arrival, transfer to your pre-booked hotel. Kodaikanal is one of the most visited hill stations in Peninsular India. The place is situated at the altitude of 2100 meters amidst beautiful Palani Hills. The name Kodaikanal in Tamil means the "gift of the forest". Situated in the state of Tamilnadu, Kodaikanal is one of the very few unaltered and unadulterated destinations of southern India. Later in the afternoon enjoy local sightseeing of the city. Visit Flora museum located at the Sacred Heart College, Flora museum is a must-visit destination in Kodaikanal. The place is just 5 kilometers from the town center and can be easily hiked in an hour. The 'Orchidarium' here has a collection of more than 300 species of orchids and other exotic plants that have been painstakingly collected in and around Nilgiris. Visit Astrophysical Observatory built in the year 1889. It stands on the highest point of the city of Kodaikanal. The place is renowned for its research in meteorology and solar physics. It also houses a small museum that has models explaining the complex scientific phenomenon in simple ways. To enjoy sunset, drive to Pillar Rocks located about 7 kilometers from the city center in Kodaikanal. These are actually three rocks that magnificently jut into the sky to a height of about 400 feet. The place is the best to view the sunset and the glittering Kodaikanal at night. Overnight stay at Kodaikanal. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY - 4
Visit the Kodaikanal Lake and nearby places.

After breakfast this morning, visit the most famous place of the city, Kodaikanal Lake. It is actually a star-shaped lake that encloses an area of around 60 acres. The surrounding has been wonderfully landscaped and is worth visiting. Among the facilities available for the tourists, boating and promenade skirting are very popular. Also, visit Bryant Park. Bryant Park is a botanical garden that is situated on the eastern side of 'The Lake'. The Bryant Park is a not-to-be-missed tourist attraction in Kodaikanal. The park was conceived and landscaped by Glenn Bryant, a British Army officer. The park is a hub of horticulture activity in Tamilnadu. It produces and exports lots of flowers that include different species of Roses and Lilies among others. Afterward, visit Coaker’s Walk. Coaker's walk is a one and half kilometers stretch that runs parallel to the Lake. This walk offers a magnificent view of the valley. It derives its name from Lt. Coaker, who had conceived Kodaikanal. The most interesting point along this walk is the Telescope House that offers visitors a panoramic view of the valley and nearby township. The evening is kept free for your own activities. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY - 5
Onto God’s own country – Kerala.

After breakfast this morning, drive to Cochin to continue your visit to Kerala. Kodaikanal to Cochin travel distance is 8hrs. Reach late at evening. Overnight will be at the hotel.

DAY - 6
To Thekaddy (Periyar) – where you can see nature in its purest form.

After breakfast in the morning, proceed for a sightseeing tour of Fort Cochin. A few interesting sites included in the tour are the Chinese fishing nets along the Vasco Da Gama Square, Santa Cruz Basilica, St. Francis Church, VOC Gate, Bastion Bungalow, Jewish Synagogue, Mattancherry Palace, etc. Learn the operation of the interesting Chinese fishing nets erected on teak wood and bamboo poles, which work on the principle of balance. Records say they were first set up here between AD 1350 and 1450. Vasco Da Gama Square, the narrow promenade that parallels the beach, is the best place to watch the nets being lowered and pulled out of the sea. Later in the evening, drive to Thekaddy. Check into your pre-booked hotel. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY - 7
Onto Kumarakom – a small cluster of islands on Vembanad Lake. En route visit to Periyar Wild Life Century.

After breakfast in the morning start your drive to Kumarakom. En route, visit The Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. It spread across 777 sq km, of which 360 sq km is a thick evergreen forest. The Periyar Wild Life Sanctuary was declared a Tiger Reserve in 1978. Noted for its geomorphology, diversity of wildlife and scenic beauty, the Reserve attracts visitors all over the world and is one of the world's most fascinating natural wildlife reserves. The pride of Kerala and a testimony to nature's splendor and human innovation, the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary is situated on the banks of the Periyar Lake - an artificial lake, at Thekkady. Here the high ranges of the Western Ghats are clothed in dense evergreen, moist deciduous forests and savannah grasslands. Below this thick green canopy roam herds of elephants, sambars, tigers, gaurs, lion-tailed macaques, and Nilgiri langurs. The splendid artificial lake formed by the Mullaperiyar Dam across the Periyar River adds to the charm of the park. This is the only sanctuary in India where you can have the unique experience of viewing wildlife at close quarters from the safety of a boat on the lake. The greatest attraction of Periyar, however, are the herds of wild elephants that come down to the play in the lake. The other prominent fauna to be seen are Tiger, Sambar, Barking deer, Mouse deer, Nilgiri Tahr, Wild Pigs, Wild dogs, Porcupine, Lion-tailed macaque, Malabar Squirrel, Flying Squirrel, Sloth Bear, Gaur and Black Langur (Monkey). DAY - 8
Visit Kumarakom. Spend your night today onboard.

After breakfast in the morning proceed to explore Kumarakom. The village of Kumarakom is a cluster of little islands on the Vembanad Lake, and this small water world is part of the Kuttanad region. The bird sanctuary here, which is spread across 14 acres, is a favorite haunt of migratory birds and an ornithologist's paradise. Egrets, darters, herons, teal, waterfowl, cuckoo, wild duck and migratory birds like the Siberian storks that live there in flocks are a fascination for visitors. The best way to watch the birds of the Kumarakom sanctuary is a boat trip around the islands. An enchanting backwater destination, Kumarakom offers visitors many other leisure options. Boating and fishing facilities are available at Kumarakom. Holiday packages on the houseboats, traditional Kettuvalloms, are an out-of-this-world experience at Kumarakom. Visit THE BIRD PARK of Kumarakom. Later, check into a traditional houseboat of Kerala Style and go on a leisurely backwater cruise along the lake on a thatched houseboat. The houseboat with all modern comforts lets you discover the countryside at your own pace. You will have lunch, dinner, and breakfast in the Houseboat. DAY - 9
Drive to Kovalam – the land of beaches and backwater.

After breakfast this morning, drive to Kovalam. Arrive and check into your pre-booked hotel. Relax in the comforts of your hotel and freshen up yourself to enjoy the beauty of beaches at Kovalam. "Kovalam" means a grove of coconut trees and true to its name the village offers an endless sight of coconut trees. The crescent-shaped beach has three parts. The southernmost beach and the most popular is lighthouse beach. It offers an amazing sight of Vizhinjam mosque. The northern Samudra is a laidback one and time seems stands still here. The middle, hawah, in the early day, is a beehive of activities with fishermen setting out for sea. With a high rock promontory and a calm bay of blue waters, this beach paradise creates a unique aquarelle on moonlit nights. Besides this natural beauty of beaches, Kovalam has lots more to see. Local sights of the city include Padmanabhapuram Palace, Located at 54 kms from Thiruvananthapuram across the border in Tamil Nadu's Kanyakumari district, the palace nestles at the foot of the Veli hills. Built during the 14th century it was called Darpakulangara, but later in the 18th century it was renovated and renamed as the Padmanabhapuram palace. A place of the elaborate woodwork, it was the ancient seat of the Travancore rulers Anizham Thirunal Marthanda Varma till the capital was shifted to Thiruvananthapuram in 1780. It contains relics of historical and artistic value. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY - 10
Visit the land with multi-colored sand on the beach – Kanyakumari.

After breakfast in the morning, proceed to Kanyakumari. Kanyakumari weaves a magical spell over all those who visit this mesmerizing place blessed with nature's beauty in excess. Kanyakumari has that imposing splendor of striking sunrise and the soft sunset that simmer over the confluence of three oceans-the Bay of Bengal, the Arabian Sea and the India Ocean, whose every grain seems to seep inside your body, refreshing you to the core. Vast and clear coasts with Azure Ocean lapping the shore, Kanyakumari is dotted with patches of red cliffs and valleys along with temples and churches that add to the resounding beauty of the place. Visit Vivekanand Memorial. Vivekananda Rock Memorial is built on the legendary Vivekanand Rock that juts out of the convergence of the Indian Ocean, the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal. About 400 mths offshore the two rocky islands became the seat of enlightenment for Swami Vivekanand, an Indian philosopher, and social reformer. It is believed that in the year 1892, Swami Vivekanand swam across the sea and meditated on this isolated rock island, imparting the spiritual charisma to him. Reaching Vivekanand Rock Memorial is quite easy. There are regular ferry services connecting the rock island to the mainland. Later in the evening return to Kovalam. Overnight at the hotel.

Fly back Home.
