Ladakh is a region in the state of Jammu & Kashmir. The literal meaning of Ladakh is the “Land of high passes”. Whereas, Leh, is the only airport in the region, is considered to be the gateway to the region, having the only airport. Ladakh is famous for its highest passes, Buddhist monasteries, extreme deserts, turquoise water lakes, glaciers & freezing winds. Most Places to Visit at Ladakh: Leh: The one of the major city in the region Leh is connected by air & by road to various other major cities. Leh is the gateway to the regions and connects the tourist to various other parts of this region. Khardung La, claims to be a highest motorable road (18, 379 ft from sea level) is a very famous sight. Nubra Valley: This valley has a lot to offer to the tourists visiting here. Magnificent view of the valley, River passing by & desert on the other hand. Nubra is a must visit everyone going to the Ladakh region. Turtuk village, the last village of India towards Pakistan order & the famous Deskit monastery is a must visit at Nubra valley. Tso Pangong: one of the most famous lakes in the region, Pangong is famous for sparkling blue water. Mostly the 60% part of the lake lies in China. Due to briny water, the lake does not support aquatic life. Lake is accessible through the famous Chang La (17,590 ft).
